At least one person is dead after a shooting and hostage situation at a restaurant in Charleston, South Carolina near the site of the fatal 2015 shooting at Emmanuel African Episcopal Church, according to the Post and Courier.

The Charleston Police Department has been following an active shooting situation at the site, just a few blocks from the site of the Emmanuel African Episcopal Church where nine black parishioners were killed in 2015.
