Pistorius Loses Right to Appeal Murder Conviction

A South African court has denied Oscar Pistorius leave to appeal against his conviction for murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

A South African court has denied Oscar Pistorius leave to appeal against his conviction for murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

“The court dismissed the application for leave to appeal because there are are no prospects of success,” Luvuyo Mfaku for the National Prosecuting Authority, said.

Pistorius was granted bail in December after South Court of Appeals overturned his original manslaughter conviction and convicted him of murder. His lawyers filed papers in January asking the court’s permission to appeal his murder conviction.

Pistorius will be sentenced in April and faces a minimum of 15 years in jail.
